Why Speeding Up When We Should Slow Down questions the installation of the 5G, the fifth generation of mobile telephone networks. This technology, which promises ever faster speeds and which would allow the arrival of connected objects in our daily lives, worries scientists about the pollution that its deployment would generate. Maxime Matthys photographed several natural spaces in different regions of France, focusing on showcasing the beauty of the nature. He then printed these photographs before exposing them to a high microwave electromagnetic field, the frequency of which is identical to those used for 5G devices and antennas. Under the effect of these waves and heat, impressions spoil, deteriorate, melt or burn, embodying a representation of the potential danger of this technology for the biosphere.
